International African American Museum hosts digital chat May 18


On May 18, the International African American Museum sponsors a digital Fireside Chat with Clint Smith, creator of How the Word is Passed: A Reckoning with the History of Slavery Across America.

The e book is a New York Times Bestseller and the winner of the 2021 National Book Critics Circle Award for Nonfiction. Dr. Bernard Powers, founding director of College of Charleston’s Center for the Study of Slavery, will reasonable the chat as Smith talks about his expertise touring to numerous historic websites.
