New child macaque Fia welcomed at Blair Drummond Safari Park


Blair Drummond Safari Park has welcomed the arrival of a brand new child macaque.

Four-week-old Fia the was born to mom Liberty and father Phil on the finish of final month and the park says she is proving a preferred addition.

Described as being “very small” , she remains to be being carried round by members of the family – and in contrast to different species, males have a really lively function in elevating the younger.

Keeper Steven Campbell mentioned “Fia is still very small and spends most of her time being carried around by her family members.

“Unlike other species of macaque, the males are also active parents and are very involved in the rearing of young. You can often spot mum or dad snuggling baby Fia in the macaque drive thru.”

The enclosure is among the hottest sights within the park and guests are in a position to drive by of their automobiles.

The troop arrived in Scotland from Gibraltar in 2014 and are a few of Blair Drummond’s finest beloved residents.

Baby Fia is the newest technology to be born on the park.
